Park Committee

Did you know that the Town has a Parks and Vacant Land Committee? The seven members are residents of Shelby and are appointed by the Town Board. The committee oversees the best use of our green spaces including playgrounds, 77 acres of public parks, trails, walking paths, ballfields and vacant land. They also make recommendations on park projects, assist in developing future park goals and create an overall vision for outdoor recreational opportunities. The Parks Committee generally meets the first Monday of each month at 5:30 PM. Your input is always welcome.

Eagle Scout Park Project

Eagle Scout candidate Wyatt Moe and his scout team have recently completed a Little Free Library in Mormon Coulee Park – West. Wyatt approached the Town in June 2021 with his idea for a Free Little Library, bench, and tree to benefit the residents of the Town of Shelby.  In April Wyatt raised funds for the project by working at the Village Festival Brat Barn. In June 2022, the library install, soil prep and mulching were completed.   In August 2022, Wyatt presented a check to the Town with the excess fundraising proceeds to go towards a bench of the Town’s preference.  Wyatt will finish the project this month by planting the tree.  Congratulations Wyatt and thank you for the wonderful addition to our park.

Wedgewood Terrace Tennis Courts

The tennis courts are scheduled to be repainted this fall. One court will be painted with tennis lines and the other will be painted with both tennis and pickle ball lines. We look forward to the lines getting a new coat of paint and to seeing the courts utilized in a fresh new way.  We hope you will enjoy the update.
