The Town will clear as much snow as possible around mailboxes, but it is the resident's responsibility to keep a 30' area clear around the mailbox (per the mail service).
If a 30' area is not maintained around your mailbox, the mail service could see this as an unsafe area and not deliver your mail. The Town is NOT responsible to maintain this area.
Also, if a mailbox is taken down by a plow pushing heavy wet snow, it is the responsibility of the resident to repair it. However, if a mailbox is hit by a Town plow, it Town's responsibility to provide a temporary box for the winter and then replace it.
