Solid Waste & Recycling
Curbside Residential Refuse and Recycling Collection
The Town of Shelby provides refuse collection weekly. On Monday, refuse is
collected from mobile home parks. On Tuesday, refuse is collected from
homes north of the Hwy 14/61 overpass. South of the overpass,
collection is on Wednesday. Recyclables are collected on the same day as
refuse, but every other week. Recyclables include: newspapers and magazines,
tin cans, clear and colored glass, plastic (No.'s 1 & 2 only) and aluminum cans.
Aluminum cans, tin cans, glass and plastic should be co-mingled in the blue
recycling bin. Newspapers and magazines should be kept separate to
avoid contamination and can be placed beside the other recyclables in a
paper bag. Guidelines for refuse and recycling, including a collection calendar, are available at the town hall.
Additional or replacement recycling bins are also available for $9.
