Fee Exempt Water Testing for Wells Impacted by Flooding - get your test kit at the Town of Shelby OR La Crosse County Health
The La Crosse County Health Department is providing fee exempt (FREE) well water testing for home owners whose private wells were impacted by the recent heavy rains and flooding. “Fee exempt testing is for bacteria only, if residents want their water tested for nitrates or metals like arsenic, they will have to pay the testing fee for those,” said Carol Drury, La Crosse County Health Department, Environmental Health and Laboratory Manager.
Testing is available to La Crosse, Monroe and Vernon County residents with fees covered by the WI Department of Health, Public Health Emergency Preparedness program. Residents interested in having their wells tested need to pick up water test bottles at the La Crosse County Health Department or the Shelby Township Hall.
Water testing bottles include instructions and hours for drop off of the water samples. Fee exempt testing of wells impacted by flooding is a routine service offered when high rain events and flooding occur, however it is specifically available to those residents whose wells were impacted.
